In-Home Care, Halifax and HRM

Trusted care for the people
who raised you.

CareO’Clock connects families across Halifax and the Halifax Regional Municipality with compassionate, background-checked caregivers for in-home senior care, available when your family needs it most.

Why CareO’Clock

Your family deserves more than
a name on a list.

Aging at home is the choice most seniors and their families prefer. The challenge is finding care that is reliable, transparent, and truly trustworthy. That is exactly what CareO’Clock was built to deliver.

Caregiver sitting with an elderly man, sharing a warm conversation

When a parent or loved one needs help at home, families face a difficult search. Agencies that are hard to reach, caregivers with no verified credentials, and no way to know what actually happened during a visit. That uncertainty is exhausting and, for a vulnerable senior, potentially dangerous.

CareO’Clock is a Nova Scotia-based home care platform that puts verified, compassionate caregivers at your door and gives you real-time visibility into every visit. From the moment a caregiver checks in to the moment they check out, you know your loved one is in safe hands.

Every caregiver on our platform holds a current Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Screening, verified credentials for their caregiver category, and is reviewed and rated after every visit. No shortcuts. No exceptions.

Frequently Asked Questions

Questions families
often ask us.

Choosing home care for someone you love comes with a lot of questions. Here are honest answers to the ones we hear most often.

What is the difference between a CCA, CCAIT, and a Sitter?

A Certified CCA is a fully qualified Care Continuity Assistant registered with Nova Scotia, trained and certified to deliver personal care including bathing, mobility transfers, and health-adjacent support in the home.

A CCAIT (CCA in Training) is working toward full certification and may perform personal care tasks appropriate to their current level of training.

A Sitter provides companionship, light housekeeping, errands, and non-personal-care support. Sitters are ideal for seniors who are largely independent but benefit from company, help around the house, and a watchful, caring presence.

When you book, CareO’Clock matches you with caregivers qualified for the specific services you have selected. You will never be sent someone unqualified for your loved one’s needs.

How do I know the caregiver actually showed up and stayed for the full visit?

Every caregiver checks in and out of your appointment through the CareO’Clock app. Check-in is only available from 30 minutes before the scheduled start time through the end of the appointment window. The timestamp is recorded automatically. You can log into your client dashboard at any time to see the visit status and duration. If a caregiver does not check in, our system flags the appointment automatically and administration is alerted.

Can I request the same caregiver for every visit?

Consistency matters enormously to seniors and their families. While we cannot guarantee the same caregiver for every appointment, availability permitting, caregivers who have received high ratings from a client are prioritised in the matching process for future appointments at the same address. You can indicate preferences in your care notes when booking.

What happens if I need to cancel or change an appointment?

You can cancel any appointment free of charge up to 24 hours before the scheduled start time. Cancellations made within 24 hours of the appointment and after a caregiver has been assigned may incur a late-cancellation fee, which is displayed clearly before you confirm the cancellation. A full refund of the service cost is issued for all eligible cancellations. If you need to reschedule, you can cancel and rebook directly from your client dashboard.

Is my loved one’s health information kept private?

Yes, and this is a priority we take very seriously. Sensitive health information stored in your care profile is only accessible to the caregiver assigned to a specific appointment, and only during the active appointment window. Access is automatically revoked the moment a visit is completed or cancelled. All data is handled in accordance with applicable privacy legislation. For full details, see our Data Privacy Policy.

How far in advance do I need to book?

Appointments must be booked at least 24 hours in advance. This ensures there is enough time for a qualified caregiver to accept the appointment, review your loved one’s care information, and prepare appropriately. For recurring care needs, we recommend booking several days in advance to maximise caregiver availability in your area.

What areas do you currently serve?

CareO’Clock currently serves families across the Halifax Regional Municipality. Covered neighbourhoods include South End Halifax, Downtown Halifax, North End Halifax, Armdale, Rockingham, Clayton Park, Fairview, Spryfield, Bayers Lake, Timberlea, Hammonds Plains, and surrounding communities. Visit our service area page to check your postal code. If you are just outside our current boundaries, you can join the waitlist and we will notify you when your area is added.

Do caregivers have a minimum visit length?

Yes. Appointments have a minimum total service duration of two hours. This ensures caregivers are compensated fairly and that visits are long enough to provide meaningful, unhurried care for your loved one. Services are selected at the time of booking and their individual durations combine toward the total appointment length.
