Continuing Care Assistant (CCA) Job – Home Health Care

Compensation: $25 per hour plus 4% vacation pay (total: $26/hour)

About the Position

We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Continuing Care Assistants (CCAs) to join our team, providing in-home health care services to clients in Dartmouth and Halifax, Nova Scotia. This role is ideal for individuals who have a genuine interest in delivering quality care to clients in a home setting. Applicants must be residing in Canada; while applicants from other provinces may apply, no relocation allowance or immigration sponsorship will be provided.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Provide personal care services such as bathing, grooming, and dressing clients
  • Assist with mobility, transfers, and positioning
  • Support meal preparation, feeding, and nutritional needs
  • Perform light housekeeping and laundry duties as required
  • Administer medication reminders (in accordance with care plans)
  • Engage clients in companionship and cognitive activities
  • Document care provided and report changes in client condition to the care coordinator

Qualifications

  • Certification: Valid CCA certification with active registration through Continuing Care Nova Scotia
  • Experience: Minimum of one year of experience in home care services in Canada or a demonstrated genuine interest in home care
  • Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Checks: Must be valid and obtained within the last six months
  • Transportation: Reliable means of transportation is required

Additional Requirements

  • Food Handler’s Certification: Required but may be obtained after hiring
  • First Aid Training Certificate: Required but may be obtained after hiring
  • Understanding Dementia Course: Required but may be obtained after hiring

Job Conditions

  • Casual Employment: Shifts are not guaranteed. Scheduling is based on client availability and first-come, first-served shift selection by CCAs
  • Shift Selection: Care coordinators will contact CCAs to offer available shifts
  • Onboarding Process: If selected, candidates must provide proof of all required documentation during our expedited onboarding process

Compensation

  • Hourly Rate: $25/hour
  • Vacation Pay: 4% vacation pay, bringing the total to $26/hour
