- Emergency or clinical needs: If the situation is urgent or unsafe, call 911 or the hospital’s clinical care team first, not CareO’Clock.
- Nursing, VON, or rehab services: Wound care, clinical assessments, and other regulated health services stay with a licensed nurse, VON, or rehab provider.
- Continuing Care case management: We don’t replace the discharge planning or public home-care assessment done through Nova Scotia Continuing Care, we bridge the gap around it.

Is this public home care?
No. CareO’Clock is a private home support service, separate from Nova Scotia Continuing Care. Families can still contact Continuing Care for a public home-care assessment and services alongside anything booked with us.
Do you accept referrals from discharge planners or hospital social workers? Can hospital staff book for the family?
Yes, hospital, clinic, discharge, and social-work teams are welcome to share this page or our phone number with a family. But the booking itself has to come from the family or substitute decision-maker, who completes the care profile directly with CareO’Clock.
How much does urgent bridge care cost?
Rates start at $32.00/hr for companionship, meal preparation, housekeeping, laundry, and grocery support, and $35.00/hr for services like bathing standby and mobility assistance. There’s no long-term contract, so you only pay for the visits you book.
What if we only need care for a few days, not weeks?

Is this covered by Nova Scotia Health or insurance?
